WHAT IS “BLAPS, RHYMES & LIFE”?
“Blaps, Rhymes & Life” is a digital compilation series that consists of major artists (50 Cent, Eminem, LL Cool J, etc) and underground artists (Skyzoo, Wale, Boot Camp Clik) that Illmind has produced for and is free for download. The BR&L mixtape series has over 140,000 downloads to date. Each BR&L mixtape is coupled with an official release party, which provides an opportunity for artists, producers, A&R’s, managers, and other industry folk to network in a party atmosphere.
Our previous “Blaps, Rhymes & Life” release party took place at Grand Banks in downtown Jersey City and was hosted by Hot 97’s own Miss Info to a 500 plus capacity crowd. In attendance were notable figures from Hot 97, Crooks & Castles, Fader Magazine, Cornerstone Promotions, and Sprite to name a few. Tastemakers from all over NYC, such as Neil Armstrong (Mixtape DJ legend, & Jay-Z’s official DJ), The Jabbawockeez, and many more were in attendance.
Illmind is a multi-platinum producer signed with Sha Money XL (former G-Unit president) and has produced tracks for G-Unit, 50 Cent,Eminem, Black Eyed Peas, Dr. Dre, Redman, Scarface, LL Cool J and Talib Kweli among others. He has showcased in many producer events & battles alongside fellow producers like Kanye West, 9th Wonder, Just Blaze, and more. He has also produced music for the world famous dance crew, Jabbawockeez (ABDC Season 1 champs) and various television spots for Nike, Hot 97, De Camp, Alize, Smirnoff, and Eidos Games. Recently, he scored the intro music for current IBF Champion boxer, Nonito Donaire. Starting in Feb. of 2010, Illmind will be teaching at Clive Davis’ School of Music Business at NYU.
